Workers less likely to change jobs in current economy
10/11/2011

It has been announced that less people are leaving their main job and deciding to stay in their current job when the employment market is weak.
The amount of people who left their main job in the second quarter of 2011 amounted to 674,000 which is a 42% less than the peak of 1998 which came to 1.17 million during the same quarter. These were the latest figures according to the Office for National Statistics.
However, only slightly more workers left on their own accord compared to 43% who left involuntarily in the second quarter. This is a slight improvement since 2009 when the amount of people who resigned was equal to those who had no choice.
