It has been recently reported in the National Press that 47% of over 60s class themselves as just getting on with a further 11% finding it difficult to find ends meet each month. These figures are taken from a study conducted by Age Concern who also reported that 20% of people cut back on heating this winter in order to make ends meet.
Up to 10% of pensioners are in debt through mortgages, credit cards or bank loans. To keep afloat they are going out less and economising on food.
