Millions Give up on Sunshine Holidays
29/07/2011

Millions have given up hope of a sunshine holiday amid hard times, soaring prices and a slump in the value of the pound against the euro.
The pound has fallen by more than 20% against the euro over the past 4 years. In 2007 Britons were able to get 1.3 to 1.4 euros for each pound, but today the figure is a little over one euro. This has contributed to the rise in the cost of our favorite holiday destinations, such as Spain, France and Italy.
On top of the fall in value of the pound against the euro, many European cities have also seen a rapid increase in prices, thus making holidays significantly more expensive. As an example, a three course evening meal for two, including one bottle of house wine, is up from just under £29 four years ago to more like £57 today.
The high living costs come on top of airline fuel surcharges, increases in price of package holidays and tickets on budget airlines.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who are concerned about the cost of holidays and would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to help, can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
