Might Equity Release Help Those Forced To Retire At 65
04/08/2010

An expert has claimed that the chancellor’s failure to announce an immediate end to the UK’s default retirement age is “disappointing”. Dr Ros Altmann, an independent policy adviser, says the default retirement age is an ageist measure, which should have been “outlawed long ago”. She said: “Older people both want to and need to work longer, they are fit and healthy and most are capable of working well past age 65.” This age discrimination in the workplace should be ended as soon as possible.”
Chancellor George Osborne did say that the default retirement age will be reviewed, but some experts have said that this is not enough. Many aged over 65 years afraid of losing their jobs might now turn to equity release schemes as a way of increasing their finances.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to help with their retirement can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
