Homes Crippled by Rising Energy Bills up by Two Million in Two Years
03/08/2011

It was recently reported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change that 5.5million households suffered from fuel poverty in 2009, an increase of 1million from the previous year.
Consumer focus and energy switching website uSwitch criticised this report as being out of date, failing to inform consumers of the current levels of fuel poverty. This is currently estimated at 6.4million households, accounting for 24% of UK homes.
With the continue rise in energy prices it is expected that this figure will continue to grow. British Gas and Scottish Power recently announced increases of up to 18% in gas and electricity prices.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who are concerned about rising energy bills and would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to increase their income, can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
