Homeowners' Water Bills to DOUBLE in Summer Amid Drought Fears
17/06/2011

It was recently reported in the national press that seasonal tariffs on water bills may be brought in to penalise households that consume large quantities of water during the summer months. This is likely to increase water bills by up to £200.
The penalty would only be applicable to households with water meters installed and will be brought in to force people to consider their water consumption when sprinkling lawns, washing cars and filling paddling pools, during 3 months of the year when the demand for water increases by 30%.
These plans are backed by the Environment Agency and are in response to one of the driest springs since records began.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who are worried about rising water bills and would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to increase their income, can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
