Green Stealth Tax will Hit Poor the Hardest
13/07/2011

A recent article in the national press reported that the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) warns that a green 'stealth' tax, introduced to encourage nuclear power plants and wind farms, could result in up to 60,000 households being pushed into fuel poverty.
The higher cost of electricity will be passed directly to private and public consumers, with little or no reduction in emissions.
The soaring cost of fuel means that 5.5million households are already living in fuel poverty, including two million pensioner households. This is compared to 1.4million households in 2004.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who are worried about stealth taxes and would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to increase their income, can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
