Families set to ration heating this winter
29/11/2011

It has been reported that 25% of households are struggling to pay energy bills, even before the winter weather sweeps through the UK. The price of energy has risen by an average of 21% over the last year. The average cost of heat and light is now at £1,293 per year. Energy comparison website, uSwitch announced that when a bill reached £1,500, 77% of homeowners will start to ration their energy (59% will reduce whereas 36% will switch their supply of energy off altogether).
Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch stated that the UK is on the bring of an affordability crisis with energy bills.
Despite all these facts, energy prices are forecasted to continue rising to help pay off the £200billion that is required to shift to green energy sources, such as wind and solar power.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who are worried about rising energy costs and would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to increase their income, can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
