12 Million Pensioners Denied 2,000 Pounds a Year Extra
13/05/2011

Up to 12 million pensioners are expected to miss out on up to £40,000 over a period of 20 years because they will not qualify for the new State pension.
Women born before April 6, 1953, and men born before April 6, 1951, will fail to qualify for the £140 a week State pension if it is introduced in April 2016. They will be left claiming the basic State pension, currently £102.15.
Under the new State pension, everyone will receive £140 per week, in today's prices. This will be reviewed year-on-year based on either the rate of wage increases, the consumer priced inflation rate or 2.5% (whichever is highest). It is anticipated that in April 2016 the weekly state pension will be £155.
Homeowners aged over 55 years who will not qualify for the new pension and would like to know how much money the value of their property could release to increase their income, can find out by contacting therightequityrelease.co.uk for equity release advice.
